Another new feature in this installment is the presence of townies. In addition, fire hydrants and other environmental items can break or spring leaks, causing the player to search the environment for a handyman to fix the problem. In some levels, you'll be seating people in bus stops and even fire escapes, where Flo can make use of a trampoline to speed her service to them. For example, when it rains you have to visit every table to put up an umbrella, and when it's windy you have stop the tablecloths from blowing away. The makeshift restaurant premise enables some of the new gameplay challenges, such as inclement weather and improvised seating. Salad bars and trampolines are just a few of the new features. The game also now includes parties of up to eight customers rather than six. But DD5 introduces a few new customer types, including clowns, who will hypnotize the tables around them, making them take longer to order and eat, and lawyers, who start arguing with each other if they're seated next to more lawyers. All the familiar customers are here, including the impatient businesswomen, the chatty cell phone addict, and the smooching lovebirds. You're seating people based on outfit color, taking their orders, delivering their food and the check, and then clearing away the dishes. DD5 features the core gameplay that any fan of the series will recognize. So now Flo has to set-up outdoor makeshift restaurants around Diner Town in order to raise money to rebuild her diner. The next morning the diner is swarmed by countless customers and bursts from the sheer volume. Big comes along in the middle of the night and paints over the word "fat," leaving the restaurant to advertise a free breakfast. Flo's diner is introducing a new fat-free breakfast with a huge sign atop the building.
